About the tool
Dokimion (Greek δοκίμιον, a test specimen) is an independent additive manufacturing tool, founded by Rare Kolesar. It sells neither printing nor equipment, so the report can also say a part is better made with another technology or by machining.
The check works on the part mesh: the part is sliced as in a slicer, each layer is compared with the previous one, walls are measured, cavities are found. Material thresholds come from papers and data sheets and are shown next to every number. What is an assumption is marked as one.
The Kolesar Score is a 0 to 100 score from three equally weighted components, with a letter A to E. 80 and above is A: the part prints without changes. Below 40 is D or E: without changes it will fail or be expensive.
Files are kept for 30 days and shared with no one. Reports are kept so you can open them again.
