The Kolesar Score
The Kolesar Score is the rating Dokimion gives every part: a number from 0 to 100 and a letter from A to E. It is built so that anyone can see why a part got its score.
What the letters mean
| Score | Letter | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| 80 and above | A, excellent | the part prints without changes |
| 60 to 79 | B, good | small changes, or support that is easy to remove |
| 40 to 59 | C, conditional | a redesign or another orientation pays off |
| 20 to 39 | D, poor | without changes it will fail or be expensive |
| below 20 | E, not feasible | another technology or another part |
How the number is built
- Each technology has three or four components, for example support, thin walls and trapped powder for metal.
- A component is 100 when its measure is zero and falls linearly to 0 when the measure reaches its limit.
- All components have the same weight, and the score is their average, rounded.
- Some findings cap the score regardless of the average: trapped metal powder caps it at 39, and more than 10 % of the surface below the thinnest wall caps it at 59.
- If part of the check did not complete, the score is marked incomplete and capped at 79. A missing result is never replaced by a guess.
Where the thresholds come from
Thresholds come from papers and data sheets and are shown next to every number in the report with their source. What is an assumption is marked as an assumption. Code does the measuring; AI only helps write the conclusion from those measurements.
What the score does not cover
It rates the geometry of the part mesh for a technology. It is not a simulation of internal stresses unless stated, not a certification and not final production documentation. When you need certainty, an engineer can review the part.
